Since I shared my Summer Goals I’ve made HUGE progress in my recovery, and am seeing so many improvements in my overall health and daily life.
In my next post I’ll give you a more detailed update about everything I’ve been up to, but for now I want to share this video with you that I posted last night – and we’ll start there. I know a lot of people aren’t on Facebook, or you may have missed it, so you can watch it there or here on my blog.
It’s just a fun and VERY candid 10 minute video where I talked about trying electrolytes – first timer here! – which ones I’ve tried, a live taste test, and a casual chat:
You can also watch this video on Facebook and join the discussion there. My Facebook Page is public, so you should be able to watch it even if you’re not on Facebook. 😉 Or the video is on my YouTube channel if you prefer that.
I have so many updates to share with you since my last post about Summer Goals! I’m doing ALL the things I talked about in that note. 🙂 Testing electrolytes was one of those things I mentioned, and that definitely seems to be helping. I’m short on time today so I’ll work on putting that update together for you over the weekend. For now, here’s what I shared along with the video above:
I was averaging 3 “good days” a month, which was a huge improvement from last winter.
But lately I’ve had 2-3 “good days” a week!
A combination of things really seems to be helping me get on the better side of Long Covid, including: acupuncture, compression socks, an H1/H2 antihistamine combo, pacing & rest of course, an elimination diet (AIP / keto / very low carb), cold therapy, etc.
Plus more recently I’ve added in electrolytes daily and I’m now able to drive a little so I’m doing my own version of Physical Therapy in the swimming pool. Mostly walking in the 4′ swim lane, and easy swims.
My joints still hurt and I still have a lot of issues with balance and mobility, so walking in the water is a great low-impact way to exercise now that I can engage my muscles again!
RE: muscle control – watch me keep dropping the capsules in that video, lol. While I had a GREAT day (earlier) with cognitive function etc, I still struggle with coordination. And I edited out all the times I forgot what I was doing haha, you’re welcome!

You can’t see them in the video (again: you’re welcome! lol) but I’m wearing compression socks. I just ordered two new pair that I think I’m going to LOVE way better than the ones I have now:
Thigh High Open Toe Compression Hose (because my knees are a problem area!)
Pink & Purple Open Toe Compression Hose (because they look much cuter than the “granny socks” I have on now, lol! – plus I like my toes free): https://amzn.to/3RUF64m
Update: I love, love, love both pair I ordered!! These are the two linked above ^ the thigh high and striped knee high. I also found these compression leggings / tights and have those on the way now too. 🙂
Do you use electrolytes? I’d love to hear which ones you’ve tried, which brands & flavors you prefer – and any results you’ve noticed! Drop a comments & let’s discuss!
There’s a whole thread about electrolytes in our Low Carb Challenge facebook group too right now. You’ll find that discussion here:

Also… what sweetener do YOU prefer?!
I never have been able to like Stevia.
That said, since I made this video… I’ve had the Black Cherry electrolytes twice since, and ended up liking it! I like it even better when I add a scoop to a large bottle of the Body Armor and shake it up. It’s especially good mixed with the Watermelon. The Body Armor has a lot less flavor, so mixing them together really jazzes that up – plus reduces the aftertaste of the PK brand. Perfect!!

p.s. yes, I’ve lost A LOT of hair over the last year+ (ugh). I’m doubling up on the collagen and eating higher protein, but that’s just part of being so unwell. You can read more about “eating high protein” on my blog at:

p.p.s. Someone was kind enough to message me and share this GREAT find, which I ordered – and LOVE already! It’s PURA D’OR Professional Grade Anti-Hair Thinning 2X Concentrated Actives Biotin Shampoo & Conditioner – and my hair felt fuller after just the FIRST wash. 🙂 (thank you!!)
